In fact, a boudoir session is almost like a workout, so you want to make sure you have energy for stamina during the shoot! Plus, water makes your skin glow, so be sure you’re hydrating all day to bring out that inner goddess glow! Don’t worry about bloating, your breakfast is not going to make a difference on camera. Eat a little something and make sure you’re hydrated.During my shoots, we have so much fun laughing and talking that you forget you’re even in lingerie, and that’s the whole point! It’s okay to have some nerves! A good photographer should be able to calm those nerves and help you loosen up and have fun. You’re in a new environment, feeling exposed in a very intimate setting. Remember that you’re going to be nervous – it’s normal.

#BOUDOIR SESSION TIPS HOW TO#
Look through their websites, social media pages and testimonials, and even speak to their former clients if you can! Make sure that their work reflects what you’re looking for and that they look like they know how to pose you and photograph you in a way that you love, all while giving you the best experience. Spend some time researching available photographers in your area.

When you arrive at your session (if your photographer isn’t already playing music), ask them to turn on some! Some studios have playlists already put together for boudoir sessions (ours does!) and some will even ask your favorite music ahead of time to have this playing.

On your drive over to your session, blast your hype playlist! If you don’t have one, make sure you take the time to put together a few of your favorite songs beforehand for this very reason. Mentally Loosen Up – The night before your session, remind yourself of why you’re doing this! Is it to celebrate a birthday? Is it a gift for your significant other? Is it a way to remember how much of a badass you are? Whatever the reason, focus on this! Push all of the worries out of your mind to focus on your reason, while prepping yourself (face mask, shaving, waxing, stretching, etc.). To help your body not be sore or hurting the next day, make sure that you stretch the few days following up to your session! While these things are not always required (if you’re injured, PLEASE bring this to your photographer’s attention!) they are very common during sessions. During your session, you will most likely have to be in some positions that you haven’t been in (drastically arching back, standing on tip toes, etc.). Make sure you also take the time to try on every piece that you are even considering, don’t pay attention to what size the tag says, pay attention to how it fits your body and how it makes you feel. Many women choose to start in their modest looks, and slowly go more revealing and intimate as they warm up and get more comfortable. Look for different materials (silk, lace, velvet, etc.) AND different coverage levels (modest, revealing, etc.). While shopping for lingerie and different looks for your session, remember to select multiple different options.
